Case study: A Diamond Pendant sat in the drawer

I had a marquise diamond pendant - once loved, but then left languishing in a drawer. It seemed a tragedy not to make the most of such a beautiful stone, so I approached Gary, who had been recommended to me by a friend.

We talked about different options, and I settled on a ring. I had always wanted a sapphire and diamond ring. Gary started by ordering in some sapphires for me to review. I chose an oval shape.

I was struggling to visualise what the ring was going to be like. Gary started with a sketch. Then he modelled the ring using a piece of wire. He showed me how the ring would sit on my finger - which really helped to bring it to life.

Gary helped guide my choice of metal for the ring - we decided on 18ct white gold. We felt the white gold worked well with the original setting of the diamond, and the unusual soft blue of the sapphire I had chosen.

I have ended up with something totally unique, created specially for me. The ring has a very unusual shape and I get a lot of compliments.

Every time I look at my ring it makes me smile. My lovely diamond has had new life breathed into it, and I now have the sapphire and diamond ring I always wanted. Thank you, Gary - you did a great job.
